Standing Up For Something

Good morning great family, we thank God for another beautiful day. Here is the midweek edition of Wisdom From The Scriptures.

“When you refuse to stand up for something, you will definitely fall for everything.” (Dan. 3:16-18).

After the invasion of Judah by Nebuchadnezzar, he took captive the king of Judah and his staff. Among this staff was Daniel and his three friends; Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. These three were trained and employed in the service of Nebuchadnezzar.

As is usual of men of power to take the glory due to God when everything is working for them. Nebuchadnezzar built a golden image of 90×9ft and asked everyone in Babylon to bow to it at the sound of the trumpet (Dan. 3:1-7).

However, Daniel and his guys refused to bow down to the image and they were reported to the king. They were given the opportunity to defend their actions and the guys calmly and respectfully explained their positions (Dan. 3:8-18).

Nebuchadnezzar could not bear the insubordination of these Hebrew boys. Thus their punishment was to be thrown in the fiery furnace. Bottom line they were thrown in furnace, however the ONE they stood for did not stand for them, HE stood with them in the furnace. Nebuchadnezzar had no choice than to stand for what those boys stood for (Dan. 3:19-30).

Questions To Ponder

  • What are standing for today?
  • Are you standing for justice or injustice?
  • Truth or falsehood? Good or evil?
  • Selflessness or selfishness?
  • Light or darkness?

Remember, there is a reward for whatever you stand for. I encourage you to always stand for what is right in Christ.

God’s blessings!
